This position is ideal for an individual experienced in accounting procedures related to funding, allotments, obligations and distributons . This position starts at a salary of $$39,179 (GS-07). EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position. You must successfully pass a background investigation. Selective Service registration is required for males born after 12/31/59. This position may require occasional non-emergency travel. You may be required to undergo periodic drug testing. In this position, you will perform detailed review, monitoring record maintenance and document processing work for travel vouchers and authorizations Typical assignments include:
Serves as the primary representative for the CDP for request for information pertaining to all official travel sponsored by the CDP.
Commits and obligates funds for staff and students travel.
Provides oral clarification to contractors and technical representatives on errors with invoices.
Ensures coding or invoice of vouchers is correct and agrees with the obligating document and that payment is legal.
Processes payment vouchers for contractors and vendors; verifying documents ensuring completeness and accuracy.
You qualify for this position at the GS-07 level (starting salary S 39,179) if you possess one of the following : You must demonstrate in your resume at least on (1) year of specialized experience to the next lower grade level GS-06 in the Federal Government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying specialized experience may include interpreting standards and applying accounting and travel management policies and procedures as it applies to processing travel authorizations, invitational travel, travel settlement vouchers, payment of invoices, and ledger maintenance utilizing an automated financial system.
In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants must have a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
