POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for developing and executing New Flyer and MCI (Public sector) external communications plans and tactics that supports company objectives.
This position also acts as the communications expert for the marketing team, ensuring messaging is consistent and achieves objectives and, ensuring all content follows the NFI Style Guide.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Develop communications strategies, objectives and plans to meet company goals as well as content generation (copy and messaging) for press releases.
Execute communication plans and tactics to deliver engaging content to key audiences in the most effective manner.
Lead the media release process and managing the press release approval process in accordance with the NFI Group Inc.
News/Press & Media Release Development & Approval Process.
Support other parts of NFI on press releases as needed.
Report on media release placements and use analytics to impact decision-making.
Support the sales team in developing compelling content for Request for Proposals (RFPs) that are fact-filled, persuasive and communicate our value propositions to win new business.
Create relevant and impactful copy about NFI, New Flyer and MCI (public sector) product, services and special initiatives for website, video, e-newsletters, advertisements, presentations, and brochures.
Prepare inspiring and effective abstracts and speeches for speaking engagements at industry events.
Craft editorials and articles for industry publications on a variety of topics; plan, research, and collaborate with colleagues to gather information to tell our stories in a way that is informative and engaging, reflects our position, and uses our brand voice.
Create persuasive and effective presentations that provides information, showcases our product, and services, and communicates a compelling story.
Assess and evaluate existing presentations and recommend improvements.
Collaboratively work with Director of Marketing & Public Affairs on development of government relations/public affairs materials and communications through drafting and proofing content.
Create technical summaries (Sales Information Bulletins or SIBs) about the components of our buses and coaches and manage the digital SIB library, ensuring that it is up to date with the latest technology by collaborating with the sales team.
Manage the marketing review process for CCB customer-facing presentations.
Participate in regular proposal reviews in line with brand standards and drive brand consistency in product and services, striving for brand leadership and flawless execution.
Understand our competitive landscape and develop creative solutions that drive competitive advantage and distinction.
Maintain a pulse on industry, brand, and global trends to ensure our value propositions in our communications maintain relevance and credibility.
Act as a back-up for producing and executing the New Flyer and MCI social media calendar and external website content management.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
A post-secondary degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field from an accredited post-secondary educational institution; an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience may be considered.
Minimum 2 years of experience in writing, communications, and public relations with demonstrated experience leading communication initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
Experienced in writing across all media platforms and for a variety audience for both internal and external communications.
Knowledge of bus manufacturing or transit industry would be considered an asset.
Familiarity with AP and other style guides would be considered an asset.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Self-motivated, highly organized and be able to multi-task to meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in MS Office and related business and communication tools.
Adobe Creative Suite is considered as asset.
Sociable and collaborative team player with positive attitude and attention to details.
Up to 10% of travel is required in this position.
